WRRC LINDY HOP - REGULATIONS

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 In all items not regulated separately in the following, the appropriate conditions stipulated by the WRRC shall be applicable.

2. AGE GROUPS

2.1 LINDY HOP-JUNIOR

In the year of the event the participants must be max. 17 years of age

2.2 LINDY HOP-MAIN CLASS

In the year of the event at least one of the participants must become 18 years, the counterpart must be at least 16 years of age.

2.3 LINDY HOP-SENIOR

In the year of the event one of the participants must be older than the age of 35, the counterpart older than the age of 40.

2.4 A couple may not start in several age groups simultaneously,

seniorcouple may choose to dance in Main Class, it is not possible to change age group several times.

3. JUDGING

3.1 Special WRRC LINDY HOP Judge Licenses are issued persuant to 9 of the WRRC Regulations

3.2 Base of Lindy Hop judgement:

Lindy Hop is based on 8-and 6-count steps. All style of Lindy Hop are allowed, including Savoy-, Hollywood-or "smooth style". Open elements and airsteps are judged as dance figures. The dancing is a connection and reaction to the music in a natural way. The character should be kept to its roots.

3.3 SINGLE COUPLES

Three sections shall be judged:

3.3.1 Charachter/music interpretation 0 10 points

3.3.2 Performance/couple work 0 10 points

3.3.3 Quality and execution of Figures 0 10 points

3.3.4 Maximum number of points 30 points

3.3.5 No deductions

3.4 The points given by the judge shall be weighted according to the relative placement system/scating system.

 

4. MODALITIES FOR DANCING

4.1 SINGLE COUPLES

4.1.1 GENERAL DANCING MODALITIES

4.1.1.1 The music is exclusively provided by the Organizer whereby only the titles approved by the WRRC Executive Board may be used (The Living-Music-Selecion-List)

Own music in the fast final round.

4.1.1.2 Duration

Preliminary, consolation-, quarter- and semifinal round 125 to 135 minutes

Final round 155 to 205 minutes

4.1.1.3 The dancing should always reflect the music played. Totaly pre-choreographed routines are not allowed when own music is not allowed. The dance shall always end with the music.

4.1.2 SPECIAL FOR JUNIORS

4.1.2.1 Restrictions to the airsteps according to Safety Level 3 (WRRC video Lindy Hop)

4.1.2.2 Only fast round

4.1.2.3 Preliminary round

A maximum of 3 couples on the dance floor

46 - 48 bars/minute

4.1.2.4. Consolation, quarter rounds:

A maximum of 3 couples on the dance floor

48 - 50 bars/minute

4.1.2.5 Semi-final rounds:

A maximum of 2 couples on the dance floor

50 - 52 bars/minute

4.1.2.6 Final rounds:

Couples shall dance individually to own music

Tempo is free but min 48 bars/minute

 

 

4.1.3. SPECIAL FOR MAINCLASS

4.1.3.1 SLOW ROUND

4.1.3.1.1 No airsteps

4.1.3.1.2 Slow round is danced in preliminary and final round only.

4.1.3.1.3 Preliminary round:

A maximum of 3 couples on the dancefloor in 34-36 bars/minute

4.1.3.1.4 Final rounds:

A maximum of one couple on the dancefloor

Between 36 and 38 bars/minute

4.1.3.2.1 No restrictions for airsteps

4.1.3.2.2 Preliminary round:

A maximum of 3 couples on the dance floor

50-52 bars/minute

4.1.3.2.3 Consolation, quarter rounds:

A maximum of 3 couples on the dance floor

50 - 52 bars/minute

4.1.3.2.4 Semi-final rounds:

A maximum of 2 couples on the dance floor

52 - 54 bars/minute

4.1.3.2.5 Final rounds:

Couples shall dance individually to own music

Tempo is free but min. 50 bars/minute

4.1.4 SPECIAL FOR SENIOR-CLASS

4.1.4.1 SLOW ROUND

4.1.4.1.1 No airsteps

4.1.4.1.2 Slow round is danced in preliminary and final round only.

4.1.4.1.3 A maximum of 3 couples on the dancefloor in preliminary round

34-36 bars/minute

 

4.1.4.1.4 Final round:

A maximum of 1 couple on the dancefloor

Between 36 38 bars/minute

 

4.1.4.2 FAST ROUND

4.1.4.2.1 No restrictions for airsteps

4.1.4.2.2 Preliminary round:

A maximum of 3 couples on the dance floor

46 - 48 bars/minute

4.1.4.2.3 Consolation, quarter rounds:

A maximum of 3 couples on the dance floor

48 - 50 bars/minute

4.1.4.2.4 Semi-final rounds:

A maximum of 2 couples on the dance floor

50 - 52 bars/minute

4.1.4.2.5 Final rounds:

Couples shall dance individually to own music

Tempo is free but minimum 48 bars/minute

4.2 FORMATIONS

Not established yet

5. MODALITIES FOR PARTICIPATION

5.1 A maximum of four couples may start for each nation and age group. In each age group the respective defending champion and the Organizer of the competition shall have one wild card each.

6. EXPENSES REGULATION

6.1 One overnight accomodation with breakfast for all couples.
